A snake or fuse is a popular method of creating a charcoal configuration that can keep BBQ temp in the Low-n-Slow range 225 degrees or so for many hours. Think pork ribs. Give it a try ... But not in a yellow kettle

With very very little need if any to adjust the vents much. Once you do it a couple of times you'll know right about where you'll want your vent settings and then you'll be able to practically set it in your sleep.
