I also have one of these and have not been impressed with how the "grate marks" have come in... Would you agree?

@toolhead Yes sir, first few cooks. Even your pic's marks don't look very pronounced. How far along is that board?

I think is said it earlier but two keys to the wooden scraper at first is to be sure the grill is really hot and to always use the same grooves. I don't have any issues with mine. My grates are never shiny but they are clean enough and my food doesn't stick.

I've had mine nearly two years. I don't use it before every cook either.

Yes I would, especially if you look at mine and see alot of different grooves. I still use it sometimes.

Guess I need to get caught up with the times as I'm still using wire brushes. I've never had any issues with them shedding bristles but I always brush after the grate is roaring hot so everything brushes off clean and you'd see any bristles if they did shed. Seems most of the time when. People have issues they're trying to clean a cold gooey grate.

BUT, in an effort to keep evolving the process I'll look into one of these wooden gadgets as a way of eliminating a worse case scenario.

Damn @kettlebb, that's perfect. I still haven't made one. Just doing a quick scrape with a metal spatula.

just another grill knickknack.. at least this one is cheap and provides that piece of mind..

i regret ever reading that grill article ..warning about using wire bristle grill brushes..

cleaning a grill used to be the easy part of grilling.. now its just another process to perfect..
