Hopefully they have started boxing up some more disaster relief Blue Wave SJ's!  ;D

I'm hoping they box up some slate blues and crimsons.

That looks like a good one to be picky about, @Jet300.  I would send it back, if it was mine.
I'm still waiting to hear back from the rep via email, but earlier in the day I reached out to Weber via FB messenger. Got a reply this morning. I'm floored on this one ... Really really disappointed in Weber on this one. This thing should have been perfect, not a poor facsimile.of the original....

apparently, they see black where the others see bare metal.  i am not sure this is willful ignorance on Weber's part.  perhaps the CSR truly sees black.  remember the dress some people saw as black and blue, while others saw it as white and gold?  perhaps this is part of the discrepancy between responses?
Read their response again ..  they said there should be bare metal in the sockets... That's apparently normal to them .. I have to start looking at my newer colored kettles now...

So, I got a call from Weber yesterday and was basically told the exact same thing that they wrote in the FB message. Weber considers everything I see on my new LE grill as normal, including the bare metal.

Not sure how to proceed, I took a peek under my 3 Perfomers ... The red is an EE, the Cooper an AH, and the blue is a 2015 they sent me as a replacement for an AU.  They're better than the reds, but the coverage isn't perfect.  I see some bare metal, but no rust.  I guess this is just something I haven't noticed before .. I may just keep the damn thing.

I did however notice a nice size piece of porcelain at the burner pass though on my Copper thats rusting...  I wonder if they'll cover that?

Get another copper bowl now and hold onto it...when it gets bad, you'll have your replacement on hand.

I like my Kettles like my coffee....strong and black.

2019 Black 26" OKP; 2015 Black 22" OKP; 2004 Black SJP; mid 70's Statesman; mid 70's Gourmet, 2017 Black CGA; 2000 Black GGA;

So I just took mine out of the box for inspection and it's a keeper not perfect but nothing to get excited about

I found one small speck of black on the lid and I mean tiny one on the bowl underside. I can tell the color on the underside is a bit thin but it's under and it's covered. Leg sockets are better than most and I may or may not add a little touch up just to be safe but this thing likely won't get assembled for 15 years

And for what it's worth mine is stamped B1

If they just listed it as a red with black speckles, they would have been fine.

I believe if you look close enough at an older red kettle you will see they also have black speckles. I understand they add a little "Lamp Black" to keep the red from being too bright or just achieve the exact shade they are looking for.

Curious if the current colored kettles in Europe and Australia are manufactured any better than these LE Reds? I have a feeling that they are very similar in quality and aren't nearly scrutinized as much. Which may be why we/USA gets primarily black kettles. They hide production mishaps a lot easier.

I am very picky with exterior porcelain finish on all my new bought Canadian LE kettles. Without getting into all the details on warranted items, or returned to bought store for exchange with another one..... I would say all of them I have now are in perfect condition.  I could take some pics of affected areas on my new bought Canadian LE MT Spring Green, Smoke, and Ivory if anyone is interested for comparision.

All I am saying is that certain things are not normal. I would give my Red LE bowl 2 out 10 as inside bowl has tape marks, red oversprays all over, runs, and most concerning ground off bare metal at all grate straps with rust showing. Even inside leg sockets should be at least covered in black porcelain not bare metal.

Not overly picky with this Red LE. All I want is a bowl with full coverage at grate straps. Am I asking too much?

I am still waiting to find out if Weber will replace my Red LE bowl or not.

@greenweb if your experience is typical that is even more frustrating for the LE reds. If they have the ability and aren't utilizing it, not cool.

Greenweb, your Canadian limited edition are made here, right?  So you probably have the best perspective of anyone in regards to quality differences between those and the new red.

I did get a call which I missed few days ago and a e-mail also asking what other no. to contact me at. I did call back few times but no luck getting hold of the CSR I was dealing with.  Wondering why the CSR could not email or text me what they decided to do.  Either we will send you a replacement, or not. or we need more info or pics to confirm. ???

Correct! Made in USA.  I could only speak for myself in my situation as I have seen other members with perfectly fine Red.  I could honestly say that, all the issues that came up on this thread were not present on any of my made in USA Canadian LE MT.  Mind you, I did have few issues but nothing like this. But, to be fair to Red LE..... all my exterior finish issues on MTs due to me being real picky were not present on the Red LE.  ;D ;D

Lot more Red LE sold so naturally lot more issues come up. Plus, first time getting lid and a bowl sprayed overseas so maybe they screwed up on early batches. What I don't get is where is the quality control.

HoosierKettle

It's just my opinion, but I think it's very difficult to just suddenly offshore manufacturing of a product that has been refined over decades in the original manufacturing location. It's really a shame that these Canadian / euro colors were not made available in the states imo.

Well maybe this mess will encourage them to bring the jobs back here where they belong in the first place.
