Prepping for my George's Birthday cook, have some time while the meat in in the brine, and always wondered how many coals fit in a large chimney on average. I used KBB, made sure there were no broken pieces, filled the chimney from a bag, shook the chimney for 5 seconds and added coals if needed. My self-imposed rule was that no coals could rise above the top lip. Did this multiple times - should have worn latex gloves.
The range was from 99 to 104 and I averaged out at 102. The more you know...
I have a small chimney, but I already washed my hands.
