Could be the uber-rare Massengill-branded kettle, one of only a few made when Weber was first trying to appeal to women. I heard they wanted to use "Massengrill", but the trademark lawyers wouldn't allow the variation. No wonder the Weber CS agent disavowed any knowledge - they have been trying to cover this one up for years.
Yep,  I think you nailed it.

Maybe it's a Char-Broil that really wanted to be a Weber. Patience is a virtue.

Only two of those were known to exist until 1993, when a third example was found in a warehouse in Coe, TX.

I'm actually on a trip to NH an hour and a half away to pick up a different NIB 18 OTG for less money.  The seller of the "probably logo'd"   18 OTG has been difficult to del with

Unfair! We still need you to follow up on the logo'd kettle. You can't string us along like that and leave us hanging. Glad you found another one though- that's hard to do!

Go get the logo! And if you don't want to keep it I'm sure you can find a buyer here.

This one was shipped in 2009.  I like the nice full ash catcher style.

Dude you are unreal...
Can't wait to have the mystery solved!!
I often think about grabbing up a CL 18.5 to turn into an OTG. Or to use as a dedicated KP rig.
I hesitate because folks bash the 18.5 because of less cooking space, not suited to indirects and so forth.
Post up when you land the mystery fish Capt.!
