Has anyone here tried the new Kingsford Long-Burning Charcoal? It is supposed to burn longer, and produce less ash. It sounds good, but does it deliver? Is there a downside?

Another new recipe...They probly put fire retardant in them so they'll last longer this time.
You can't always get what you want....but if you try sometimes you get what you need

Maybe they drilled a bunch of holes in the coals so they don't get as hot!  LMAO!!!!

I picked up a bag of Kingsford Long Burn charcoal yesterday. It was 10 bucks and change for a 11.1 pd bag. When I got home I performed an uncontrolled experiment. I weighed 12 charcoals briquettes of Long Burn and 12 charcoals of Blue Bag. They both weighed the same. They both look the same I might add. I then stacked 12 charcoals of each over a package of starter. They were both lit at the same time. Both charcoals burned at about the same rate. After about 1.5 hours we were down to the last little bits of lit charcoal. The blue bag pile may have been slightly larger but not enough to declare a winner in longevity. This experiment initialy showed there was not a big difference between the Long Burn and Blue bag. We are cooking a pork shoulder today. I am using a 14.5 WSM and will be using the Long Burn brand charcoal briquettes. I usually have to add fuel halfway during the cook. I will report back if I notice any discernible difference. With my initial test I am a little skeptical of the claim of 25 percent longer burn time.

Here is a link about posting pics.  Also, if you download the Weber Kettle Club app it makes it much easier since you can do it directly through the app instead of having to upload the image somewhere else then link it.

Great review.  I'm not sure if I am surprised that the results came out the same as KBB.  I like KBB so the fact that it appears Kingsford thinks their KBB is a good enough product to market this way doesn't surprise me.  I'll stick with KBB, but I am sure there may be some people who don't generally use briquettes that will try this new product and think its great.
