It doesn't sound like your heart is telling you to restore it so I would pass it on to someone who would want to take on the project.

You know what gummi, you're right. Sigh, who needs parts? Rock bottom prices.

Save it or pass it on to someone who will restore it and enjoy cooking on it.  This is Red MBH. Not many of them left. If you have a better one... pass it on to someone who does not have. It is our duty to keep these MBH kettles alive.  Besides, Kettle God will be pleased if you did and make you score more neat kettles.

Chop it up and make a gas pizza oven.
Still need a 22" yellow

I would clean it up and cook on it. Clean the inside back to new, wash the outside with Dawn dish soap and steel wool, maybe polish the legs and paint the triangle if needed. I wouldn't even replace the bottom vents. Use it for a Chicken cooker where you would run vents wide open anyway.

I wouldn't do any hacking or cutting on it,,,,use it is my vote

Someone should love that kettle

I am sure there is someone out there that would love to have this. Post it up in the Holiday Giveaway thread and improve your karma while making someones day.

Hell Fire Grill

If it was modern or rotten I'd hack it, but it looks mostly sound all around.

Id clean it, minimally, and use it. There are plenty of Rescued, Restored and Recked kettles out there. Sometimes the most Respectful thing you can do to it is clean & cook.

You can't always get what you want....but if you try sometimes you get what you need

So I did some work to it last night and today. I cleaned the inside with a bunch of razor blades, 409, and steel wool. I then went to move it with the only handle, and that snapped off. I also noticed the leg sockets were more holy then a seminary, so today I practiced my welding skills welding the handle and the leg sockets. This one may turn out ok yet. Judging by the poll so far this may morph into project tomato.

I hate to say it, but my wife has made planters out of nicer looking grills than that

So i filled in the welds on the handle with some JB weld (just a thin coat). Ill hit it with some hi-temp red dupli-color around the handle and welds Monday. I know this thing will never be a looker, but it will be a cooker...maybe.

I'm excited for this one. I've never really welded anything other than just playing around for a minute. Is it hard to keep from burning through on thin metal?

I really dig the metal wheels even if they are rough at the moment.

Yes it was rather difficult to keep from pushing through the thin metal. I had to hit it a couple of sec then rest a sec then hit it again until I had enough slag built up. I'm teaching myself how to weld. Probably should take some classes but meh, this will look good for me and that's all I care about. I'll keep everyone posted on the progress.
