Thought I had a grail over the weekend

I want a Gen.1 14.5 WSM and saw this one listed 2.5 hrs. away. Also saw a Weber fire pit listed 90 mins away, and 2 hrs from the WSM. I have a friend who's been looking for a fire pit so we planned a road trip.

Stopped for the fire pit first and all went well. The legs are rusty, as is the expanded metal screen someone attached around the frame. One handle is missing and the other is tired. But, the top and bottom are in great shape. Good deal for $25.

Onward to the WSM....got there no problem. Nice drive. I walk around the house and there she is, an 18.5 WSM.

The search continues...

Did they have a picture of it listed before you picked it up? I was able to gauge the size of one I just bought buy the size of the door and proximity to the top lip. 14 is much closer to top lip.

Not that I'm an expert but the 18 I just got didn't have a size listed so I scrutinized internet pictures until I was able to tell. Does that mean I have weberitus yet?

The picture above is the ad pic. I guess I should have known better. The seller did say it was 14.5.

I already have all 3 sizes. The thing was covered with mold. I left it there.

I would have probably done the same. I only did some research on mine because it didn't have a size listed on the ad

It's listed for $100. I offered less and he accepted. The only reason I'd pay that much is because of its grail status to me.

Still a nice smoker. I'd like to have an 18" someday.
Round here they tend to ask double the price.

It's all over the place. There was one on cl for 230 (newer model) and the older one I got on letgo for 25. You never know what's going to pop up.

there's nothing in the pic for comparison, the seller confirmed it was a 14.5, and it's one of my grails. i saw what i wanted to see.
