A friend of mine (more of an acquaintance) was up at Washington Island in Door County, WI and spotted these two beauties at a yard sale.  Him knowing I have a passion for Weber Kettles texted me a photo.  You can imagine how excited I was and immediately texted back to grab them quickly.  I'm sure he figured they were rare by my sense of urgency.  He later called me to tell me he did get them and asked me if they were worth anything. It sounded like he had already done some research and I did confirm that both kettles were rare and that they are definitely worth something.  I should have played it down but it was too late, he already had dollar signs in his eyes.  After his return, and after seeing them in person, I just had to have these beauties.  He knew I wanted them bad and after and some negotiating he agreed to sell me the Chestnut at a decent price.  We could not strike a deal on the SJ-100 because he believes it is worth a lot more than I was willing to pay.  He said that he will just put it on Ebay to see what he can get.  It is a rare SJ but I'm just not sure what it is worth to me. I still have a chance to acquire it if I decide to.  So here they are:

WOW!  Congrats on the Chestnut!  I've been to Washington Island myself...that Chestnut took a ferry ride to get home!  I'm impressed with the condition of that kettle given the harshness of the climate up there.  What a remote place to find a gem like that.

Nice find brother!
Although the sj is nice,  I'm not sure it's worth near as much as he wants!
