I have been dreaming about doing something like this for awhile and finally ready to share what I am about to do. I never dreamed of doing 3 builds at once but like with my cool kettle scores, it just worked out that way.

You all know how much I like my current modded Spring Green Master Touch( not touching this one), but I have come to appreciate simpler looks of classic 70's and 80's kettles.  Build inspiration comes from my love for Special Edition color Master Touch in both Green and Ivory, and my love for classic vintage kettles.  Looks like my ideas are finally transferring to actual build I had in mind.

So, here is my take on what Special Edition kettles should be. Not necessarily just MT.   Each one has different concept and representation.

Build #1. I am calling it- (Classic)
My take on  classic vintage 70's kettle, especially MBH kettles. My attempt at retro build using Ivory or Spring Green Kettle.  I am most excited about this build, we will see how it turns out.  Going back and forth on Ivory vs Green. Not sure yet even after this "Hypothetical question- Ivory or Spring Green MBH " topic. I may do a mock-up on both before deciding.

Build #2. (One Touch Plus)
Akin to 1988 One Touch Plus that came before Gen1 1992 Master Touch, building a rendition of a modern classic version of One Touch Plus with left over color from #1 kettle build.

Build #3. (Copper Special Edition Master Touch)
Copper color was never offered in 2016 Special Edition MT line-up, so I thought it was cool to build my take on Copper Special Edition Master Touch kettle.

I have few large boxes already. Few more coming tomorrow and a one more on the weekend to start off the builds. Technically, builds has started but I am idling till I get all my items.

I will share more things as they come and the builds starts happening. I am sure I will be asking for more opinions as the build progress.  Other smaller details to be worked out as the build progress, but I have most of it worked out.

No Pics Or It Didn't Happen!

Good luck brother. This sounds ambitious, but it could be very good. Plus, it sounds like you already have most of the pieces.

So true! It hasn't happened yet. ;D ;D ;D

Some changes in the plan.  I decided to go with Spring Green for #1 build.  Also, I will keep Ivory as a MasterTouch and mod it later.  With the Copper having to remove 1 of the bowl handle and to drill 3 holes for lid holder to make it into true MT, I will turn it into Retro similar to #1 instead.

Both of these lids are with a newer style handles. Even with taco shell removed or even fire place handles will not cut it for this project I am thinking. I was thinking removing 2 rivet handle assy. from 70's spare lid to use it on #1 build and another handle strap from my $10 kettle for the Copper. I could bolt them on  and exchange newer handle to donor lids. Wondering if this would be ok to do.

I will update with pics as needed. Don't expect much progress this week though.

Not much happening yet.  2 brand new flawless lids and bowls on a stand by.

My latest plan is to do Ivory in #1 build, Green in #2, and also the Copper as Retro than maybe later turn it into Copper Master Touch.

Look what I got.

You know which one I got.  ;)                                                        You didn't think I got them all did you? I am just showing what was on the showroom floor.

Sim Propane Limited in Sarnia had all 4 colors in stock. The place RottiGuy mentioned.  Thanks! @RottiGuy. Their price is $30 to $50 cheaper than anywhere else at $249 Can. I tried price matching at a few other places with no luck.  Dave the owner I think and John were great to talk to. Only like 10 min away from the boarder north of Detroit. Come and get them before they are gone. They don't ship.

I picked up Weber 10 pak. grease tray for my Genesis S-330  too.  $7.99 but gave to me for $5. Not bad.

Next week, I will do a mock-up of 2 variation per kettle. I need to see all 6 versions in real life. After that, 3 will get picked for final build. I will rely heavily on others opinion as I still can not decide which version to go with in my mind.

Not much time to spare this morning,  but with no traffic, got there early like 8am. Ended up talking to the boys for an hour and had to leave for another meet up in that area. Did not want to bother you for a such an early meet. Next time.

Ivory at home.
