The  5k that we're approaching is 'active' membership.

What qualifies as "active" @Troy ? Certain number of posts?
Also, for the three on October 18th, how are you planning to split the prize?

Today is the last day to enter the contest. If your reading this thread for the first time, below is the long lost of rules for the contest. As of this morning, the active member count is at 4854


Has anyone else been watching the membership tally? The club is fast approaching 5,000 members.  With the blessings of @Troy and the craftsmanship of Brian @zavod44 , there is going to be a contest to see if anyone can predict the date the counter flips to 5,000 members. The prize will be a custom Zav handle. I am donating a  block of Asian Satin Burl wood for Brian (Zavod44) to custom make the handle.     Entry into the contest starts when this post is published and ends at midnight on Sunday, September 4 (Pacific Time).  That gives everyone a week to get out their abacus and calculate their date. If there are multiple people who pick the winning date, all the winners names will be put in a hat and my wife will draw the winner.  I can't afford to put Zav handles on 4,999 member kettles.

Just post a reply on this thread with the date you pick. 

One entry per member and again the entry deadline is by midnight, Sunday, 9/4/16

Entry into the contest is officially closed.  Here are all the entrants/players. If I missed your posting and your name and date are not on the list, let me know and it will be added. If no one guesses the actual date the 5,000 member mark is reached, the date closest to it will be the winner. Any ties, including in the event of a tie to the closest date, those names will be put into a hat (or more appropriately a Smokey Joe) and Mrs. cellar2ful will draw the winner.  Active member count is at 4858 as of now.
