I am back home with Yellow MBH.
« on: August 23, 2016, 05:54:18 AM »
After a long trip to Denver CO. to see my friend and spending a day with his family, I am back with my $45 Yellow MBH that I won on on-line auction.  After 16 years, it was real treat to see him, his wife, and 2 grown teens.  Overall, I had a great time that I will cherish for a long time.

Few pics from Denver.

Safe at home before clean up.  She looks fine!

Flaws on the lid as shown. Chips around the lid handle, vent hole, and a small chip on the side which is pretty normal for Yellow.  I have seen few better condition yellow lid before but the bowl is something else.  Light crazing between 2 vents as shown and a chip on one metal handle is it.

I've had some exciting scores in the past, but I don't think I can top this one ever.   I am excited to see how she looks all cleaned up.  Give me about a day or so, I will post up after pics.

Thanks,

Awesome. Love the dedication. Definitely way beyond the 30 minute drive-time rule...  8)

It was more like 30hrs drive non-stop.  Only stopping for gas, washroom breaks and 3 to 4hrs sleep. Same on the way back.  Except for getting pulled over at the US border for over an hour cause they did not believe me for doing 30hrs drive to visit a friend in Denver and to pickup an old grill in record time, everything was fine.  ;D

I got the lid and the bowl somewhat finished today. Really cleaned up nice.  I will try to finish it all up tomorrow and try to take better pics with amazing orange peel on the lid. Really happy with overall condition of this kettle.

Thank you all for your great comments.

Wow! That is such a kick ass score! Yellow is really growing on me now. Can't wait to see a cook pic and the color change.

Congratulations @greenweb, been a good year for you.

I believe that this is the under-statement of the year, so far.

Greendude.................holy fucking crap!!!!!!!! Okay okay okay...................I knew you were "into" this passion we nutters on this board indulge in but THIRTY hours driving for a Kettle?????? Oh man.....I am impressed. I knew you were probably good so passing on information to you directly and indirectly concerning Kettle finds in our area this Summer was something I did without hesitation.....boy was I ever bang on. Good....very good.

Was it 30 hours each way or round trip? Google says it would be 20 for me each way.
"Why do you have so many bbq's?"....."I just like lookin' at em' sometimes....and I have enough purses and shoes"
