Has anyone actually scored a grill by ringing the doorbell and "cold calling"?

I'm walking the dawgs, like I do every day........

& somebody's ( I think ) getting evicted from a rental RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER......

Complete accquisition: 4 minutes.....

Brand new 18-1/2"
Used maybe 5-10 times from the looks of it.....

Missing charcoal grate, which I have brand new spares....

Sorry, I'm not letting it go to the dump, even if it's only a new black one....

I knocked....but they were already evicted...... 8)

I've done 3 or 4 cold calls and so far so good 8)

@MrHoss has a Red MT that was the result of a cold call about 5min from my house. Also talked another guy into letting me take a look at his red kettle at the side yard but it turned out to be my first encounter with a HC ;)

I have a couple cold calls. None panned the same day. The worst than can say is no :o

This one took two years.

Yep.  I spotted a red JJ in the bed of a pickup at the grocery store.  So it wasn't so much a knock on a door, but a 'wave through a window'.  The owner talked me up to $35 from my opening offer of $20, but I couldn't let this one get away.

...and call me superstitious, but I always park in that same spot when I go to the store.

Oh, and I just remembered that my E-code 1880 (old-school 14.5 WSM) came to me via several WKC members.  The first of whom acquired it after several years of cold-calling and card-leaving.

Not everyone deserves to know the real you. Let them criticize who they think you are.

I've been stalking a red head 22" with metal Bowl handles and a wooden top handle. House is vacant but lawn is regularly mowed. Do I leave a note inside the grill or do I send a letter address to current resident? Or sneak in and grab it under the cover of darkness?
