Well, I got almost 2 years out of it

It was showing serious signs of wear, and I was going to get all I could out of it. I guess I'm off to the store tomorrow

Then again, maybe a couple bucks of hardware....?

I was curious how the Weber chimneys held up. I've had the cheaper ones before and they looked worse, albeit intact, after 6 months. I have a Weber now though and am enjoying how much better built it is compared to the ones I've had previously.

I am sorry, my friend, but I CANNOT believe Weber chimney would look like that after only 2 years of household use.  8)

Hard to believe, I hear ya. It got used 4 to five days a week and multiple times during those days. Just like tonight, it was the 2nd fire going in it. Once to light the 22 and then again to light the 26r. LOTS of abuse.

I also think that's a lot of rust through given its age. Do you leave it out in the elements? Either way, it sound like you've gotten good use out of it.

On a different note. Mine looks awesome after about a decade and a ton of use in AZ.

A little bit of tie wire and it'll be like new again.

I have a cheap no name chimney that's been good to me for over 10 years.  I keep it dry so it's still in good shape.  I recently got a Weber chimney.  It does hold more charcoal but the thing gets the charcoal ready in half the time as my old one.

Great idea!

It does sit out all year long in the elements. Maybe I should store it on the performer shelf under cover. Oh well. As long as it lights coals, right!

You can also put it in the kettle once the kettle cools down.
