Wow, that worked out great.  I don't have a SNS, but might do this for starting snakes.  Nice work!

Thanks for the info ed3120 I've been looking at the slow and sear for one of my performers great mod.

Great job, now I know what to do with my second SS Performer. One for SNS use and one for stacker use. Now I just need to buy the SNS and a stacker. ;)

I actually just realized that my performer has been set like this the whole time. I moved the tube back over 2 years ago so that I could use the burner while a chimney is sitting inside the craycort frame. Its a great mod as it accomodates indirect cooking, lighting baskets and cooks where you don't need to cover the entire charcoal grate with lit.

I've done a similar mod.  With the igniter moved behind the bracket, it can be mounted on the top of the burner tube, more hidden, wires dressed neater, and away from physical abuse below.  (I store my chimney underneath and occasionally hit it.)

This is a great idea @ClubChapin.  I too hit that damn thing with my Chimney.

I am going to turn it now.

Funny how allot of guys want to place the burner tube closer to the  kettle wall and i want to center it.

It works well.  I've used it enough to decide it is ok (for me) closer to the bowl.

You do need to move it closer to the bowl to move the igniter to the top of the tube.

I like the burner where it was, but am fine with it closer to the bowl.  Chimney, basket, and, I presume, SNS will still work with it in the closer to bowl position.

Why do you want to center it?  Vortex or GBS usage?

mrgoodbar67

I dont have a SNS so its current location is not ideal and neither would this mod.

I do have charcoal baskets and a chimney and feel like centered would be better.  HOwever, I dont think Ill be able to center it since the ignitor hits the bracket
