Is there a better performing lid thermometer for the SSP/MT Handle Thermometers?

Is there a good Tel-Tru for this?

Thanks!

Jason

I believe the one you linked, has too big of a dial to fit correctly.

This Tel-Tru fits the Genesis, which I believe is the same size as the MT and SSP.

That looks correct.  My existing thermo has a 1.75" face as does this one.

Thanks!

What size fits a newer Performer?  2" Diameter?  Stem Length 2.5" or 2.125" or either stem?

Is the Weber one inaccurate? Why do you need one for a newer Performer? I know taking the temperature up there is not the most useful to begin with.

I think all bimetal thermos are not super accurate.

The lid is not a good place to measure temp.

I think the tel-tru are considered the best or among the best bimetal thermometers.

I am missing some thermometers.

Here is some detail on putting a tel-tru BQ100 in a newer thermometer bezel: http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/weber-kettles-accessories/weber-parts-reference/

I checked my weber thermometer against an instant read all the way up to water boil, and it was right on. But it looks like some Webers are way off.

Thanks for the tip.  @Jason

I purchased this and it fit perfectly.

It registered 210 in boiling water.  Spot on for a bimetal.

Awesome news! I need a couple also for my MT and SSP. It will complete the look even if I don't use it.

This link shows a few more pics from the same project if you are installing a Tel-Tru on a kettle that has never had a thermometer on it...

The "annular space" trick, location method and drill method make it worth a look.
