1ROW

I recently completed a grill project for my Dad's best friend. He had been cooking on sub par gassers for a long time and was looking to get back into charcoal. He asked for a table grill so I gladly went to work. Awhile back a buddy found a beat up one touch platinum that had no lid and a hole in the bowl that he generously donated to my Weber boneyard. I salvaged the brackets from the bowl, the legs, lower wire rack, wheels and axle. A friend helped me out with welding the brackets to a gently used OTG, after I removed the handles. Then I went to the home improvement center and got the lumber I needed. I used the old plastic table as a template for the new wood version, it's slightly wider than the original but otherwise a direct copy. I felt that the plastic lower side panels just wouldn't do justice to the rest of the grill so I made some wood ones. I had been thinking about making some for a while so this seemed like the perfect time to give it a try. They are made from five stacked boards each, screwed and glued together.  Another buddy loaned his drill press to drill the leg holes. The lower wire rack had to be trimmed to fit between the side panels (after a mini panic attack because nothing was fitting together!). Finally I burned the new owners name into the wood handle using a letter branding kit. I applied two coats of golden oak stain and then finished with three coats of helmsman. My Dad's friend loves it! Here are some pictures....

Quite creative. Very cool project. The Golden Oak really goes perfect with the black kettle.

You must have some serious respect for the guy, huh?
Obviously looking for a Glen Blue (who isn't?😂).

Looking for anything Happy Cooker, including any re-branded as Montgomery Ward.  I've amassed a nice collection, but I'm missing a few still.  Let me know if you can help a fella out🤞

It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch
