So I was on my way home and there it was being wheeled out to the trash a WEBER 18".

Condition = UNKNOWN

Year = SAME UNKNOWN

Did I want it HELL YES! The lady was taking it out to the side of the road for the scrap guys. I pulled into the driveway and asked "Are you tossing that?" She said "YEP"  to that I reply "Can I take it?" She said "YEP"  fastest I have ever got a grill!

So some observations about the grill...

Top and bottom well taken care of but the vents need some work.  PALATINE ILL "M"

The pictures...

So she should be a looker and a cooker! ;D

That will clean up nicely.

Free is good!

Our neighborhood cleanup day is 5/3. I'll be going shopping.
I've got Webers. 10 - WSMs, 5 - 22.5" kettles, 2 - 18.5" kettle, 2 - SJS, 2 - SJP, 4 - WGA, 1 vintage Coolie Pan

You know what they say, shoestring. One man's junk is another man's treasure! Good deal bud!

Nice rescue. I can't get my '75 18er to seal very well at the bottom no matter what. The 1/4" hole down near a leg socket isn't helping either. I've retired it.
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

If I can't get it to seal... I'll make it into a chive garden. Need something that will keep it up high so the dog won't.... well you know ;) on it

Well done for saving a classic-looks like late 70's early 80's model-I have a 78' model in brown with wooden handles-wouldn't get rid of it for the world-makes a guest appearance at family gatherings-happy cooking!!

You are going to love cooking on that. I'd never had an 18 until recently, and mine is fun to cook on. Stingy on charcoal and easy to control.
