Jumbo Joe question
« on: March 03, 2016, 04:42:05 PM »
I come seeking council from the wise.
Local Wal-Mart has JJ on sale and after much consideration I slowly walked away. I have had non-buyers remorse for a couple days.
Those that have them - How often do you choose the JJ? Will a S Vortex fit on a JJ?

@Normal_J_Bird I can't answer your question about the S vortex for the jumbo Joe and I can't see why it would be a problem since the S vortex is designed to work with an 18" grill. But what I can assure you is that I love my JJ. I generally use it for smaller and faster cooks like steaks and hamburgers. I bought the table that fits the JJ and now I can use it as a stand alone grill. I can also take it camping since it's  so portable and convenient. Go back and do like me and pull the trigger! I know how it feels to have non-buyers remorse. My NBR condition lasted a month! Many sleepless nights and googling Jumbo Joe on the internet!
If it ain't smoked don't eat it!

@Normal_J_Bird I think you need a mini vortex the for the Jumbo Joe. Think it has to do with a different height from charcoal grate to cooking grate. Check with @THUNDERDOME though.

Hi J Bird. I had to get the Smalls cut dow to fit a jumbo joe. The grate to grate height is the same for the upright kettles (sans ranch). But the 'minis' are designed specifically for the Jumbo Joes. Let me know if you have any questions

The Mini-Vortex fits the 18-1/2" Jumbo Joe and does a nice job.

I also have a review on this fine little kettle on my site. Might help you make up your mind on this cooker.

I have a Jumbo Joe  I take in my fifth wheel, and I have a Vortex for it, purchased from Owens.
They sell three sizes, one for 18.5, Jumbo Joe and 22.5.
Win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat.

$30 you should get it. Even if you use it a couple times and don't like it, which you won't, you can sell it and get your money back.

Great travel grill and I often use mine for brats and such. That's a great deal.
