I picked up a 14.5" WSM at Walmart last fall when they were clearing them out. Today, I finally got it out of the box and put it together.  I lit a chimney full of KBB and poured it in, letting it run as hot as it would to burn off any residue.

It was so much fun to play with, that I decided to start seasoning it also. I made a simple fatty of hot Jimmy Dean, cheese, onion and jalapeƱos.

I might have to use this thing again tomorrow!

I had one for a while, still would if I didn't have my homemade one, I really liked the temp control.  Once I shut that thing down the fire was out within minutes.

If I didn't already have a Kamado I would take a serious run at an 18 or 22, but I just don't need one.
I am not a collector, but I do have a small collection.

Thanks, @toolhead. The top is a thick piece of aluminum that I found in the remnant pile at a metal supply. I got it for stupid cheap! All I did was bolt it down.

Good story on the cart find top.

Ive been busy with other projects but seeing some recent nifty carts around here may get my head around engineering a cart this spring...nice job

Would the 14" WSM be better than say the homemade ones? Oh and good looking fatty!

when I used mind it is better but if you already have a home made there not reason to have two.

Thanks, @1911Ron ,

I think that a properly fitted homemade "mini" would work just as well, and be a blast to make. I just never got around to doing it.

Maybe someday I will!

I am guessing 3-15% better depending on your fabrication skills. Probably towards the low end of that :P

I have one and like it very much, I was seeing if I could justify getting one!

Ron, let's have a meet-up and run them side by side. Then we will know for sure!
