I haven't been checking CL too much lately, but had a look this past Monday and saw this!

It had been listed for 8 days, so I replied to the ad without much hope of hearing back. Much to my surprise, I got a response about an hour later, saying it was still available. I made arrangements that night  and had it in my car early the next day.

Here are the pics from the ad, along with the bad news...

From the pics in the ad, you could clearly see that the lid had a pretty major dent in it. BUMMER!!! I bought it anyway, knowing that it was pretty rare around these parts and might never see one again. Aside from the dent in the lid, there is one leg socket that is pushed inward. All of the welds are solid and there is really not too much porcelain missing. The tread on the wheels have seen better days for sure!

I hope you all enjoyed seeing this oldie!  8)

Hell Fire Grill

I'd cook on it even if it had two dents.
You can't always get what you want....but if you try sometimes you get what you need

What a killer score!
One side is a looker, the other a cooker.

Does it have an ash pan?

Yes, it has the original ash pan, but is missing the hooks that attach it to the legs.

Very cool Kettle right there. Don't forget a glove when cooking.
"Why do you have so many bbq's?"....."I just like lookin' at em' sometimes....and I have enough purses and shoes"

Awesome find!!!  Even if she's a little misshaped, she's still pretty.

Obviously looking for a Glen Blue (who isn't?😂).

Looking for anything Happy Cooker, including any re-branded as Montgomery Ward.  I've amassed a nice collection, but I'm missing a few still.  Let me know if you can help a fella out🤞

I love the battle scar, gives it lots of character!
Square tab lid vent, does that make it a Woodale?

And I'm not sure, but the ash pan should be a twist on.

Great find!

Great find!

its a wood dale, and the ash pan is pre-twist on.
it will have U shaped cut outs and little wire swivel clips that wrap around the legs (similar to 64/65 26" grills)

Thanks Troy, come to think of it I have seen that type ash pan, just never in person.
The hunt continues...

Sweet score!  The big ole dent looks like the lid is puckering up to give you a big ole kiss!!!!

A crease like that  would be fairly easy to fix , theres no worry about porcelain loss in that area , I think heated up you could push it right back out again .

Congrats on a sweet old Wood Dale !
