Ok, not a Wood dale, or a cool color, but kettle finds around here are RARE.
1983 E code in great shape. All handles intact, one touch system will clean up as will thw rest of the kettle. All in all I'm a happy camper!

Yes whitewalls are in perfect shape.  Original owner, purchased brand new. Even got a full bag of KBB and a bottle of lighter fluid  (hehe). He bought an Egg and sold the kettle, poor soul. I probably paid too much but down here the market is scarce.  $50 was a deal for me. Clean up starts Tuesday!

Ok, need some opinions, IF I converted this to a "Gold" in a way thay could easily reversed,  would that be bad?

The Ash ring snaps on and off easily (as long as the slots line up on the leg sockets) and is reversible.

First, that is a nice kettle. And $50 or twice that shouldn't be a number you are embarrassed about. Not every area in the country is going to have folks willing to sell these things for small amounts of money. And if you went and bought a new one...it wouldn't cook any better.

I had four bullets, but I typed them out, then deleted the last three. That kettle is all yours and it is a beauty. Set it up just like you want to

Excellent buy! I would have paid that in a heartbeat. She is a lady! That vintage ash catcher is rare! I wouldn't change it. Adds character! Hope it cleans up nicely for you. If you are worried about  falling ashes blowing out of it, a twelve inch aluminum pie pan sets on top of the one touch cleaning vanes and doesn't block air flow because there is space between it and the kettle bottom. it will catch the falling ashes from two char baskets placed together in the center of the charcoal grate. Sear in the middle of the cooking grate and move to the edges for safe zone. My 2000 kettle had its cleaning vanes rusted beyond service. Could not get set screw loose and had to cut it loose. The new style  worked good for me. I like new cooking grates. She is worth that for sure. Treat her right and she will never leave you!
