First Cook With My New Toy - Pizzas

I am thinking this is my most anticipated cook on a Kettle ever. Pizza was a big deal when I was growing up and I started making dough's in my late teens. When I got turned on to cooking on a Kettle and found out they made a pizza attachment I knew I'd get one someday. With the help of @LightningBoldtz I snagged one a couple days ago.....AFH also got one.

Nobody was home till tonight so the pizzas this afternoon got shared with some neighbors. When I said it was the first time making pies with the new toy I was told it tasted like my 200th time. It kind of was as I been at it 30 years. MacEggs was up this summer making pizza in the yard so I got to learn from him too.

I am really gonna enjoy using this baby:

I am not a collector, but I do have a small collection.

I am REALLY thinking about getting the Kettle Pizza.  Worked well?  What are the temp's like?  Any suggestions?

Thanks!

That is a very thick Pizza stone.

Old too. Dad gave it to me when he found out I was making pies. If that thing cracked I believe I'd just lay the pieces in and keep using it.

@JonR - the screw placement on the ring allows for a cooking grate to be placed at the top. MacEggs uses firebricks on a top rack to radiate heat down on the top of the pizza to melt the cheese. I did the same but used the heavier type that radiate more heat than the lighter porous type. The heavier bricks combined with the heat caused the cooking grate to bend...not sure how bad yet...I am gonna have to either add support screws or maybe use a steel plate up there. I plan on doing plenty of cooks before the snow flies so will have more experience shortly.

Man those turned out great. Its not often in life you sit at a table eating prime rib wishing you were in the backyard cooking pizzas but that was me last night. I can't wait to get that thing fired up.

The pizzas look really good. I'd like to keep up with what you do to limit the headspace. Thats the biggest issue I've found using it. I am currently using a steel plate that kind of fits, but it could be better.

Thanks for posting this Mike and nice work with the pies! I'm thinking one of these accessories will be making it's way to my house sooner than later! I like the clear pic of your fire set-up too.
