My new Avacado
« on: August 11, 2015, 04:24:40 AM »
Went to a Flea Market on Sunday, there she was. Had a hard life.

She has a bad leg socket,

and a bad repair.

"It’s safe to assume any grill with Patent Pending on the vent is a 1969 or 1970 grill however depending on wheel style they could be from as late as 1971-72. The wheels  also transitioned over to from metal rims, metal hubcaps w/ rubber treads in 1969 to metal rims, plastic hubcaps w/ rubber treads in 1970 to plastic rims and hubcaps with rubber treads during 1971-72 then finally to all plastic treads by 1973."
Thank you WKC Age Guide.

PAT PENDING

Lid and Bowl seem  to be in good shape. All the vent turn, not a lot of rim rash.

Will have to wait to see how she cleans up

That's gonna be fun!  Like finding pristine hardwoods under some old, nasty carpet.

Oven cleaner over nite. Most of the black paint came off with the garden hose, 90%. Did the rest with the pressure washer. Pressure washer had no effect on the bowl paint. Currently in plastic bag with oven cleaner. Pressure washer got most of the gunk out of the bowl.

This is the most lid damage.
Handle even cleaned up.

I'll keep you posted on the bowl.

That's coming along nicely! It kills me that people paint over these old Cados and yellows... But it's good to know that they are still out there waiting to be rescued!
