Im just lighting the chimney at this time and it could be me..but after starting the chimney with gas assist on ss performer...the chimney seems to be blowing more smoke than kbb??

I found the stubbs was a bit smokey AT FIRST, maybe equivalent to KBB but not as toxic on the eyes and lungs, but quickly turns to a much cleaner smoke after about 15min

I use KKB (mostly), Stubbs and Royal Oak Lump. From my experience, they all smoke quite a bit on start-up.

Yup..she did clear up after she caught throughout the chimney...i did like the way stubbs burned solid throughout the cook..i get a problem sometimes with kbb when the coals will get a bit smothered when juices hit the coals..but stubbs burned solid right through

"but stubbs burned solid right through"

Stubb's is solid all the way around....yes a tad smokey at the start, but unmatched for long burn cooks like pork butt.......NEVER fails to chain.......... 8)

PS: Here's an almost finished chain....notice right by the shadow on the left is an unburnt Kingsford....

This chain........

Which was lit with Stubb's...which caught quickly, very quickly & without fuss.....

Only reason I did the chain in Kingsford's was it was already set up to show a buddy how to do it.....his is running today I think.....

Use Stubb's any chance you get.....the food will just come out better all around..... 8)

I love the size of the Stubbs briquettes too. They seem to pack a bit better which prob ties in with what buckie said above. Not nearly as crumbly as the TJ's stuff either.

Update..my cook last night was quickie...30-40 mins
today the leftover bricks were almost all there..barely any ash.

I took all the leftovers and filled a chimney and relit.

I was able to get another full 30 minute cook from leftovers.

And i still have stubbs briqs left.  Imma try a 3rd relight on my next cook... this stunbs rocks

Stubbs is awesome stuff, I've been singing their praises for years.  I normally just use it to smoke with, but lately I've been grilling on it too since the supply of good lump in my area has completely dried up.

I've got some Stubbs in the garage waiting for its first cook. I'm looking forward to using it.

stubbs is awesome.  my go to for most cooks.
I only use kettles with lid bales.

Also my favorite briquette, great stuff!

I really like Stubbs too. I wish it had a seasonal sale like KBB does
