Ranger Restoration - Completed
« on: May 15, 2015, 06:26:16 AM »
The restoration of the Yellow Ranger grill is complete.  All original except the new wood handle from Osage Orange.  Legs repaired with two days welding, bowl repaired, legs / vents / ash pan all blasted clean.  Legs painted and new coke bottle grips.  Added holes at the bottom of the legs to drain water, evidence of expanded metal from freeze/thaw cycle.  Added small brace between legs so all the stress is not on the bowl.  All original coating in place and stove paint used to cover bare metal.  A new 1970's grill cover is being crafted by my wife and then we will fire it up and use it, it is in great shape.  I've sent photos for loading to Troy and Jeff.

And indeed he has done some extensive and amazing work.  It doesn't look like the same grill at all.  Once I have all the photos organized...I hope to have this documented and posted by later next week for everyone to see!

Wow Jeff!  Great write up, you really captured it all.  My only clarification is that my friend and coworker Ron did the work for me.  There is no way the restoration would have been done so quick and back to near original without his skills!  And thanks to my wife for the new retro grill cover she made the Ranger!

That's tremendous !!!

Right up there with the very best restores done !!!

Nice the ash pan wasn't rumpled & a few other saving graces, but geez.....that's top notch !!!

It even turns ORANGE when you cook !!!!
