New Jumbo Joe?
« on: March 12, 2015, 05:04:58 PM »
Saw the post on the Green Master Touch - http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/weber-kettles-accessories/green-master-touch-in-the-us/

It looks like there may also be Jumbo Joes that are taller and possible even 22".... http://c929377.r77.cf2.rackcdn.com/58449_091214.pdf (assembly guide)

Has anyone seen this? Not sure what the point of Jumbo Joe with legs would be vs a regular 18" kettle.

That was mentioned here a few months ago, it's exclusive to Wal-Mart for a year. Looks like what they've been calling the "Compact" in the Euro market. It's made to a lower price point but can't be as versatile as a regular 22.

It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

if I remember correctly, one of our aussie members said it's been for sale there for a bit and for us "yanks"  to stay away as the materials were of lower quality and not made in the states.

Yes we've had the Compact for sale here since 2000. Cheap Chinese made crap....my advice is to steer clear of this model
I'm only 2 or 3 kettles away from being that creepy guy down the street with all the Webers

What's curious is that it's gonna consume the same amount of space as a regular 22.5" model, so you're saving a chunk of money for a crappier grill. This isn't Weber's first compromised design, but at least the others have had other attributes such as portability.

The entry point is also the exit point for a lot of people, so perhaps this is just Weber's slice of that pie. Hard to say no to big retailers.

Hard to believe Weber would squander their good rep on a crap product. Maybe they view it as an entry vehicle to get folks to pony up for the big boys or just a way to compete with the cheaper Kingsford and other low end "kettle" style cookers. Better to hunt yard sales and find a real one on the cheap. I bought a OTS 22" at a yard sale three or four years ago that my SIL now has along side the 22" OTG I got him for his first Father's Day in their first house.
