Old SJP with some Mods
« on: January 31, 2015, 07:12:15 PM »
A few months ago I found this Smokey Joe Platinum on CL. It had been well used for a few years by a Boy Scout Troop, but it was cheap.
I always forget to take before pics, but picture the top inch of the  legs and the  hardware all covered with rust.
I cleaned the rust (and the aluminized finish) off of the legs with a vinegar soak, and replaced the hardware with all SS pieces.
I painted the legs and side vent covers with Rustoleum Hammered Finish dark gray paint. I also gave the handle a bit of danish oil.
Not fancy, but a new lease on life for an old kettle.

;)
