Ranch Kettle Owners ?

This part was missing on my Ranch but as usual Weber CS came through.  Free w/free Shipping.  My question is what it for?  It mounts on the square tubing that supports the Lid Bale.  My only thought is that it adds extra strength for that support tube.
@Winz  , any ideas?

I think it keeps the lid from jamming too low in the lid bale
