SS Performer Bowl & Lid Question

Always wondered about that, then when I get around the pros like Winz, Gummi, Mirkwood, Argent, Dazzo & the Norcal gang who I think all have them, I forget to ask.....somebody in that bunch knows.......

My performer cools down quicker than my master touch. It's gunked up enough that you can't really tell there was a hole for the tube.

For those with gas assist, do you have trouble snuffing the coals for  re-use in later cooks?

On the first few cooks. After that it's all good.

You don't think the Performer with gas assist doesn't suck more air? It won't draft too well with the top vent closed, but I think its possible that the coals can smolder longer for a while?
Anyone ever tested this theory?
 

When I used a performer for my daily cooker I reused charcoal like crazy.

It will leak more air at first. But it seals up.

The charcoal goes out the same because the kettle fills up with co2

Functionally the performer shuts down at a similar rate to a otg. Without a opening at the top there is no draft created to continue combustion.

I finally got it cleaned up and put back together!

I took the cart completely apart and gave it a really good cleaning. It definitly has some battle scars, but I'm totally stoked with how it cleaned up. I had to grind out a tiny bit of rust and brush on some Rustolium, which is hardly even noticeable. I polished the paint with rubbing compound and finally put a coat of wax on. The stainless steel parts were cleaned and polished as well. I replaced the casters, as one was missing and the other was frozen solid. A couple new axle nuts and it was done! Not too shabby for less than $20 in parts.









I'm still looking for a kettle to put on there...
