On the cooking grate is a welded-on badge, on which is posted "CAUTION! Do not use spirit or petrol for lighting or re-lighting!". Of course it is in german on the badge.
Is the badge welded or is it a piece of aluminum folded over the bars of the cooking grate?
We had the same badges on 80's kettles in OZ and it was folded
I'm sure the couple I have owned had been welded Joel.
I bet you a drive to the Central Coast with two kettles it's not welded?

I knew I'd seen similar back legs somewhere!

Joel, I'm going to see if I have any pictures of the old grates. I may even have a rusty one in my shit heap. I'll look through it when I get a chance.
If it breathes, we can cook it!

What!!! Is that all you've got??? Looks folded to me!
Until I see photographic proof of actual welds I will consider it folded and you'll owe me a trip down the F3 to deliver the kettles ;D

The ivory SJG ist about 90 Euro (about 130 AU$) in Germany. It is called "Smokey Joe Premium" here in Germany but seems to be the SJG. I get it for you in trade for a trip to OZ ;)
