I have a Weber Performer and one touch gold and I was just given a Kettle one touch silver as gift. Of course I was very appreciative for the gift :)
I just have not had one of those for a long time and I remembered having to contain the ashes during windy days. So I thought of a modification to help with that. I replaced the ash catcher with a 13.5 smoker water pan. I picked up the pan for $5 from the local hardware store.

I usually fill it half way with water during cooking and that serves two purposes. 1 it extinguishes any loose ember, and 2 it prevent ashes from spreading every where during windy days.

I do the same thing with my Jumbo Joe, I use 9-inch cake pan with little water in it as well.

I hope this is not considered Blasphemy on this forum, I just thought these were practical solutions. Any one tried this before??

Absolutely not limited to only Webers, but I've seen some tremendous kettle cookups of yours also.....thanks for signing in & WELCOME !!!!!

You can put them in "Recipes" if that fits, "Grilling & BBQ" if that seems right, or even "Off Topic" if it appears to be the right thing for the equipment or cook..............

Personally, I think they should all go in "Food Pron" !!!!!

Welcome Z! Look forward to seeing your cookouts and collection! And that mod is a great idea for the OTS kettles. I've been toying with the idea myself.

1buckie and I had a discussion about kettles on another forum and he gave me a link to this forum to look up some stuff. I've been browsing for a while and I finally decided to join. And I think I made the right decision :)

Nate

I think I'm going to use your ash catcher idea since the grill I just picked up was missing.
