Height of 22" kettle lid including the handle?
« on: April 30, 2014, 04:06:15 AM »
Anyone have this measurement handy? I'm trying to figure out if I can get an already assembled performer in the back of my Highlander. Weber only lists the height of the whole grill...

Thanks.

It will slide right in with the lid off. I've gotten one in my RAV4 with the seats down.
NYC Kettle Hunter (where <30 min drives do not exist)

Take off the lid. If you hit a bump the lid handle may hit your roof and you'll chip the welded area. Good luck!

Not sure what you are asking, but the total, overall height of the LID including HANDLE is 8-3/4".

You want to make sure that your treasure does not end up in the front seat with you in case of an emergency stop.
If it does fit assembled and upright and you're traveling any distance.....

Wrap the grates in newspaper or old towels to quiet the rattling.
Bungee the lid down securely.
Strap down the entire assembly, preferably with ratchet straps...don't go full retard with the ratchet straps or you will be bending things.

Good luck.

Highlander...RAV4...I'm laughing because I was just measuring the height inside my FJ Cruiser earlier this morning, to see if it would accommodate an assembled 22.5" OTG to take camping (it will).   :)
From the Weber web site, the dimensions of the various Performer models:

Silver: 42 (H) x 39 (W) x 28.5 (L)"
Gold: 40 (H) x 50.25 (W ) x 28.5 (L)"
Platinum: 40 (H) x 50.25 (W) x 28.5 (L)"

OVERALL HEIGHT of my OTS is 37-1/2"
(measured correctly using a level)

Thanks for the feedback. To be clear, I planned on traveling with the lid off all along. The reason I needed the lid height is to subtract it from the 40" total height Weber publishes in order to see if I'll be able to get the grill in the car w/o disassembling.

LOL
It's easier just to measure to the top of bowl.  (29" BTW, the math lies a little because of the lip.)
Direct measurement, no level required !
