Just got back from my first CL pickup, scored a mostly unused Performer Platinum. I really
like the styling of this model vs. the newer ones. Looks like it was cooked in once and they
gave up on it. The One Touch was locked in place with gunk, the rest of the bowl
was fairly clean. Had to taker her completely apart so I could load it in the car. I stripped her
down in 10 minutes and was on the road. Not bad for $125.00, grills like this are very few
and far between in my area. The lid and bowl looked like it came out of the box
brand new.
I was originally supposed to go look at it around 11:00AM but the guy I was dealing with said
they were having a yard sale starting at 8:30AM. They said they would hold it for me but after reading
all the stories on here I showed up at 8:30AM with cash and tools in hand. I am fairly certain if someone
would have offered them more money I would have arrived and the grill would have been gone.

Nice pick up!  I assume the purple performer return went smoothly?

Yes everything went well with that. Everything worked out in the end thankfully.

Very nice pickup at a great price!

Sweet.

I picked up the same thing yesterday.  Actually, didn't pick it up yet, but gave a deposit.  The seller was a great guy, and agreed to hold it for me for a week or so, until after I move.  Even offered to deliver it for me.

Need to see some pics of the cooks!

Wow, I picked up this exact same model and year on Thursday! Congrats on the new grill!

Congratulations to all you guys, y'all will be surprised just how nice these grills are, easy starting, the convenience and size of
the table. I got myself a small tent broom and dust pan for cleaning the bottom of the kettle before I start a new cook.
They are cheap so you can toss them when they get super funky, I use just the whisk to brush everything into the ash bucket .

Welcome to the WKC, it's more than just a web site..

I have the same setup I have been using on all my kettles. It works awesome, what I do is
when I have dumped all the ashes I will swirl the brush in a fast motion to remove and risidual
ashes. if you for the little broom it works great on the daisy wheel kettles for removing ashes.

I love this model performer, for some reason the new style seems to plain to me vs. the styling
of this one. I was very lucky to find it and I am loving it so far. The gas assist is freaking wonderful!!!
No more lighter cubes.
