OTS TO OTG
« on: September 29, 2012, 10:33:58 PM »
tried to fit a gold ash catcher from a DD to an EI but the leg sockets dont line up
is this just a matter of using a hose clamp for the 2 that dont line up?
or should i try and get the bar type ash catcher?

I've done the hose clamp thing and it worked great when I had the Gold can on my EO. If you want a clean look, make sure the screw clamps are on the inside of the leg sockets.

You can also cut a notch in the leg socket. Just measure twice and cut once..
A dremel or similiar tool would work.
Or, you could attach it with some self tapping sheet metal screws..
Or the hose clamps for sure if yopu don;t want it to be permanent.

Hose claps would be my recommendation.  Non evasive, easy...no fuss no muss!

Thanks to Brian's wisdom, I used hose clamps, and was very happy with the result.  Quick and easy and very secure.

I also recommend putting the screw clamps on the inside.  Using a long screwdriver allows you to reach in *through* the holes in the ash catcher ring and tighten them down nice and snug.  Oh, and don't forget to reverse the direction of the tabs on the ash catcher ring so they hook onto the hose clamps securely.  And make sure your hose clamps are stainless steel (I think that's the default for hose clamps, but better safe than rusty).

The red triangle looks good to me.
All you need are some red axle caps..
