The Estate (Chestnut-Copperton)
« on: September 01, 2012, 06:36:20 AM »
Here is that grill i picked up on Monday.  I found it in the 1964 catalog.  It was referred to as the Estate, (Chestnut-Copperton)

The handle on top was smashed in so I had to pop it out.  But the porcelain was damaged.  It's in great shape, other that that part.   I want to grab it because they didn't make these for too long.  It seems they switched over to the Chocolate (brownie) color by the late 60's.

One interesting thing is the hubcaps are different than the others.  They are all steel, they are the same as the ones on Grandpa as well.  I'll get pics in a while.  Does anyone else know anything about these different hubcaps?

That's a nice kettle. I figured this was the color that was dropped in favor of chocolate, just like I have hypothesized that baby blue gave way to avacado green around '66 -'67. That OEM handle is in decent shape. We definatly need to do a "Weber Decades" section and display the kettles from each one with contrubution pics from everyones collection.

I do have some work to do.  The triangle is upside down, I got to fix that.  I'll get the wheels all painted nice.  I still need to pop out the handle a little.

I love the Weber decades Idea.  The wheels picture section, the vent picture section, Troy you got a lot of work to do!

Should I contact Weber and ask then about that lifetime porcelain warranty?  See if they will send me another?

Those are just the original hubcaps they came with before Weber introduced the plastic ones.

Again, nice areola.

Doesn't she have pretty nipples.... :o...er......I mean DIMPLES! saw according to the '73 catalog that Chocolate "brownie" kettles were called "Copper Mist". I guess I would have never thought of the browns as copper. Learn something new everyday!

I seriously think it was discontinued because it's basically pink. Most guys don't want pink grills. I think they probably pushed it for a while to get them sold off and then focused on the brown ones. I think it's nice though and the discontinued color makes it even more rare and collectible. Now I hope that Troy can get hold of that other matching one and they can photograph them together.

I think from now on the "Chestnut-Copperton" ones should appropriately be posted in the Food Pron section to be safe.  :D

Maybe at first they made a pink one to entice the ladies, then thought never mind and lets target the men?
