I remember a few years back when, it seemed to me, Jealous devil was coming out on the market (4-5yrs ago)?  I saw it at a novelty BBQ shop and I bought a bag of briquettes (pricey but was worth a try). I loved it! but it was like $34 for a 17lb bag.  I then saw the Jealous devil a few weeks later for $29.99/17lb at Home Depot so I bought two bags.  Enjoyed those as well but it was a bit pricey for me and got settled in to B&B Orange bag for the next few years.

I see in the last year JD's prices have come down and they offer XL briquettes and lump on their product line. I also see that they've made their bags 20lbs and are now $18 at least in my area.  Much better deal so I purchased a stock for now.

I'll continue to go between JD and B&B orange bag as my main heating sources.  Also, I have purchased B&B logs (red 30lb bag) for several smokes and one pizza cook. Love the uniformity and long lasting burn on those as well.

whoa that's exciting!
years ago there was another charcoal on the market that looked like that.
I'll have to look for this - where did you find it?

Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

The JD Hex look similar to the B & B Competition Char-Logs.

Sorry @Troy, just saw this, I've only seen the Hex in Ads and on JD website at this point.

Excited to try once I return home.

funny enough, i was in contact with the naked whiz long before I even got my first Weber!!

Yeah when I was into BGE's way back I was picking up a lot of his "Highly Recommended and Recommended" Lumps and Extruded Charcoal shell stuff, Ive got a couple bags of Real Montana Maple and Cherry, Wicked Good and 20lb boxes of Charcos Coconut. The majority of the reviews are so outdated and no longer available they should archive them
I cook on: Backwoods Gater, Lang 36, Hunsaker Smokers, Pellet Pro 22" WSM, BGE's, WSM's, Cajun Bandits, PK Grills, Drum Smokers, Genesis Silver C, Weber Q's, Cookshack 008, Little Chief, La Caja China #2, Lodge Sportsman...oh yeah! Weber Kettles! Kamado restoration and pit modification hack!

Gonna be excited to see this! Usually for charcoal reviews, I go to either Naked Whiz or the YouTube Channel Flying Smoke.
I think I might need a bigger backyard soon...

BTW, to answer your question, I usually use Royal Oak and B&B Oak for Lump and solely B&B for Briquettes, though I do have a few brands on my list that I've been meaning to try. There's a bag of lump I picked up from a company called Texas Original Charcoal Co. that I've heard is good, so we'll see how that goes. I've also thought about making my own charcoal one day just for fun, as my backyard is full of trees and there's a sweet firewood place right across the street from my Church that I visit from time to time. They also sell fresh pecans!

I'm willing to donate 1 or 2 pieces of original 1935-1937 Ford Motor Company Charcoal if you want to do a burn test on it from the opened box on the right. I still have a few bags of Coshell also.
