I thought about doing the same. Weber says to line it with sand but I think the grate is a good idea for some air flow

This arrived from the US. After a bit of a clean, handle straightening, legs refurb it's looking good. From the original owner who bought it and kept it in their log cabin, grilling on it every summer until 15 years ago when they bought a gasser. I am almost certain this is the only one of its kind over here, but I could be wrong

Very nice addition to the collection.  Would be interested to know where the cabin was and where this kettle was all of it's life.
