My first yellow Kettle mini Me SJ with wheels
« on: September 10, 2020, 04:46:37 PM »
The inspiration for my SJ with wheels was @LiquidOcelot SJ build for his daughter back in May 2020.

I would like a yellow kettle and not willing to pay eBay prices.

Here is my yellow kettle. I’ll provide more details with build pics, dimension, paint used and drawings if you’d like to make your own mini me SJ. I have a hard time typing on a cellphone screen.

It’s not perfect and I learned a lot for my next mini me SJ build.

Thanks @zavod44 for the awesome handles.

Cheers

You even added a bowl handle! Did you just cut down a triangle and make a new hook?

I cut the bowl handle and leg sockets from an old 22” kettle that was in the bone yard.

I used an economy triangle, kept the hook end. Removed spot weld from wheel axle shaft slide it up until I got the fit I wanted. Sides of triangle are 6-1/2” from front leg centerline.  Old axle shaft length was 22-1/2” and new length is 17-1/4”

Attached picture is when I welded wheel axle shaft to the three finger supports. I’m not much of a welder, but it works.

This is super cool. Did you have this porcelain coated or is it paint? Either way it is rad!

Two cans of high temp engine paint was used to cover the black kettle.

That is too cool Robert!  Love the look of that little guy, especially sitting on the GB..... and yes, we all take pictures of our grills.  Nice work!
