DEMOnstrating WKC values in action
« on: July 27, 2020, 07:26:47 PM »
Lots of talk on the various Facebook groups over the weekend about Demo's its time to chronicle this one.  On Friday, I get a WKC PM from ReanimatedRobot informing me of a nice looking Demo grill on the west side of Michigan.  He stated he was asking about shipping but wanted it to go to a club member if not.  I was planning for my wife surprise 50th birthday party for Saturday so a 3 + hour trip one way was out of the picture.
On Saturday morning I looked at that ad again and seeing it was still there I reached out to Matt Vanderwest who lives on the west side of Michigan.  He was on a job in Lansing(central Michigan) but was headed back that evening.  He asked if I wanted it, I said if he can make it happen.
He reached out, she responded(making it obvious she was not shipping) Matt kept close ties with the seller as any good buyer would do.  Finally on Saturday evening I got a text that it was secured. Matt took an awsome shot of him sitting between his and the one he purchased for me.  Yes he already owns one.
Per Matt according to the seller this has been sitting unused in a cabin and body shop in Alpena Michigan for years.  Alpena, if you ever watched John the Picker on Youtube, Alpena Michigan, Whaaaat?!?!.
Matt was kind enough to bring it with him back to Lansing and meet me this even about 45 min east of Lansing.
Big shout out to Bill for giving me the heads up on this, and Matt for being the legs to get this in my car today.  Pics below.
And if anyone wants to say these are not rare, there are many in the wild just read Kevin Kolman's article on the Demo grill.  Some are claiming otherwise, incorrectly.
I am not a collector, but I do have a small collection.

Very valuable moves by a bunch of grate grillfellas
Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

So awesome!
I love demos, just thinking about the history of those grills introducing the Weber covered cooking way...
Congratulations!
