Alternate chimney starter stands/surfaces?

I don't think I would put it directly on the flagstone. I would get a cheap metal pizza pan to put it on. That's what I do. Or a square or round paver. Seems like it would at least darken the flagstone if not crack it

My neighbour has been complaining about the smoke coming from the chimney when I light up briquettes and start it on the Kettle grates. 

I'd like to move the chimney further away from the house and away from the Kettle.

I generally use the wax starter cubes.

Can I light the chimney on flagstone and just leave it directly on the stone? 

Are there chimney stands available?

Any other suggestions?

Some of the Dollar Trees have a cheap metal pizza pan for a dollar.  I bought one for an alternative use also.

I also enjoy outdoor Dutch oven cooking and when I was just getting started (and quite broke) for my stand to make my ring of coals, I used two cinder blocks turned on their side. The guy at the hardware store, upon learning what I was doing, warned me “they could end up cracking and breaking” and I said for the buck a piece they cost, I’d risk it. That was 10 years ago. I left that set at the house I was renting and bought another set about 7 years later. I still have that set. So rather than risk your patio, I’d recommend a couple cinder blocks.
