Pulled an old Q200 out of my basement to clean up and use or sell. Noticed the flames are not what they should be! Cleaned all the usual suspects. Everything looks fine. I'm guessing regulator! Has anybody been able to MacGyver a standard $10 low pressure regulator in rather than buy a new assembly for $50-$60 plus shipping?

I'm guessing you may need to reset the regulator. I had to do this and it worked. There might be other fixes you can look up if this doesn't do it.

Reset the regulator by turning off the burners on your gas grill. Turn off the propane tank and disconnect the hose from the tank. With your gas grill lid open, turn the burner knobs to high for about two minutes, and then turn them off again. Reconnect the hose to your propane tank and slowly turn on the gas. Follow your grill's lighting instructions. If this doesn't increase the flame size, you may have a faulty regulator that needs replacing.

Anybody out there have a regulator for a Q 200 laying around. I'm just think the part is a rip off at $50 to $70 plus shipping!

The reset of this safety device is easy and also the way you want to start your Q each and every time if hooked up to a 20-lb LP tank. For troubleshooting purposes for the Q100/1000-200/2000 models, you can detach the adapter hose and light your grill using a 14 or 16 oz. disposable LP cylinder as no safety device applies with those.

Steps to light your Q correctly:

1.  Open the lid

2.  Verify the control knob is in the off position

3.  Open your 20 lb. LP tank all the way

4.  Wait 1 full minute

5.  Turn the control knob to the Start/High position

6.  Hit your igniter button

7.  Your grill should reach 500-550°F in 10-15 minutes                FROM WEBER SITE
