More Greetings From Iowa
« on: January 26, 2020, 06:53:22 AM »
Hello All;
   I am Ventana (Michael) from Des Moines, Iowa. I am the proud owner of a 2002 Weber Performer in Dark Blue that is in need of some minor TLC. I have cooked everything on that grill from Blueberry Scones to Smoked Celery Stalks. BBQ Turkeys are my speciality. I have cooked a Thanksgiving turkey on TG day here in Iowa when it was 20 degrees F outside on my Weber Performer.
   I had been looking at buying a new Performer but when I found this forum I decided to keep my old friend (the thought of a divorce was far too traumatic) and try to fix her up a bit. These days I am all about keeping things out of the landfill (that's why I ride a 1974 Schwinn Paramount) I am hoping the rather knowledgeable Weber veterans here will point me in the right direction.
   I am excited to be here and looking forward to learning new things about my beloved Weber.

Thanks;
Michael

P.S. I made a mistake when I first registered and forgot to list my little standard Go-Anywhere Weber that we keep in the camper. So really I own 2 Weber grills.

Welcome from Chicago.  I never wanted a Weber GA, but after seeing people talk about them, I couldn't resist picking one up when I ran across a charcoal version for cheap & then wound up picking up a second one a couple days later.

They are both kind of an olive color...a black olive color.
regards,
Hal

Dear Fellow Members;
Many thanks to each and everyone of you that welcomed me aboard.  BBQ season is about to start here in Iowa and with the information I was able to glean here I have purchased a Slow and Sear kit to advance my BBQ skills to smoking skills.  My attempts at preparing a Brisket last fall left something to be desired.  Hoping for far better results with the S&S kit. I'll keep you all posted.

Have Fun;
Michael
