Performer bowl mount side brackets wanted
« on: September 02, 2019, 01:10:52 PM »
If anyone has a Performer kettle around that has donor side brackets (the brackets that hold the kettle to the frame), I would be happy to buy a pair.

I am trying to restore my old Gen 2, whose table is in great shape, the kettle not so much.

Thanks,

Tom

Those look really nice.  And if I can't salvage a set, that's the road I'll have to take.

Thanks for the link.

Hi T_om,
I had a bit of time on my hands tonight so I decided  to take off the mounts of my old performer 2 bowl.
Lets just say, they dont come out clean, they have 2 spot welds.

I made an album so you can see what I mean.

I believe this guy also sells stainless steel brackets if you contact him.  I believe he is a member here, but I can't remember his name.  I plan on making an order for a set from him in the near future as I believe they are superior to Unknown BBQ in one very simple way.  They don't have an engraved logo on them that I didn't ask for.  I mean I get someone wanting to put a small logo on their product, but I didn't ask for a large pig with "Unknown  BBQ" to be engraved on my brackets.

I’ve never used one of these spot weld removal tools, so I can’t testify to their effectiveness.  For $3-5 might be worth a shot.

Angle or die grinder would have made it much easier.

I have only done one side, ill try to cut the entire bowl for the other side and remove the extra layer of metal with a grinder after.

Evochuck,
How did it go when you tried using the angle grinder?
Assuming if you go the angle grinder route then repurposing the old bowl won't be an option.

I've got a really worn out rusty gen 2 performer bowl. Like you, I am thinking about removing the brackets from the rusty bowl and attaching them to a donor kettle. I know I can buy the brackets, but am trying to keep my cost down on this project.
