Need help on which Weber gasser
« on: August 22, 2019, 05:20:06 PM »
My friend is ready to give up his Charbroil and buy a Weber 3 burner. He's tired of them wearing out in just a couple of years. He grills 3-4 nights a week. Are the new Webers as good as the old ones? Are they still cast aluminum? Need to avoid rust problems as much as possible. My reputation is on the line, so I'm coming to the pros! Thanks.

I don't know about the new ones, but I bought an old genesis platinum, and it fired right up when I got home, side burner works, and ive cooked on it quite a few times. The bottom of the cart is rusted out, but it works really good. Do him up one of the ones with the wood slats and really keep up your reputation!

If he is looking for new, I would highly recommend the new S-345 Genesis II.  All stainless.
Very nice grill, and my local Ace has one on the floor right now for $899.
However, for my $$  I would pickup a 10 year old E310 with the east/west burners,
and rebuild it, or an even older Silver B or Genesis 1000 if you can find one.

Find an old Genesis with good bones and refurb it. Costs way less than a new one and from what I hear they’re better built than new grills.

Thanks guys. I tried to reply the past couple days but I keep getting FORBIDDEN error messages when I try to add pics. I found a sweet '97 Genesis Platinum, barely used for $250 with all new SS guts. He wasn't interested so I give up. That thing was sweet.

I have a platinum, if he didnt want that, he must want to grab another char-broil or something. The frame is stainless on the platinum, the only thing wrong with mine is the bottom tray on the cart is rusted out. I'm gonna try to figure out somethi g to replace it

Did it have a side burner?

You can lead you butthead friends to weber, but you can't make them learn lol

I think they sold for 700 new, amd in 1997 gas was less than a dollar a gallon, and it had new stainless inside... He should have got that
