I have to say I’m in love with this grill! I have the “weberitis” lol

I’ve cooked chicken, sausage and a brisket so far and it’s all been amazing. I compare it to cast iron cooking. Everything just seems to taste better. I’d forgotten how enjoyable cooking over charcoal can be.  I’m hooked now! I want to cook anything and everything on it.

I’m going to keep my eyes open for my next one...hopefully I can find a vintage 26”

Glad I found the grill and this great group of enthusiasts.

Welcome from Kansas! That's awfully nice for your first find, but the wheels are locked up, so you better just let me have it!
Jk. I haven't seen any with locked up wheels, there has to be crud up in there or something

Lol. Thanks. I took the wheels off. The triangle at the axle was really corroded, swollen and rusty. I had to scrape and wire brush it back to the proper diameter. They’re spinning free now.

Welcome from NJ! That kettle cleaned up nice, it looks really good! My similar aged 77 (black/weathered warrior) is my go-to cooker, I love the vent/air control of a 3 wheeler.

That’s a nice redhead you got there. This is my 83 E code redhead. All my grills have names, this one is Big Red.

Yours looks great! Love the name. I’ve started calling mine Lucy but not sure if it’s going stick.

Nice! Your best and cheapest bet is trade or buy with the members. Welcome from just outside Chicago, IL
Thanks for the tip. I figure since the grill was free, buying new grates and new wheel would be at least half the cost of a new one. I don’t “need” vintage wheels, do I ?

All in the eye of the beholder. As long as it cooks grill away, you might find that wheel someday. Good luck!
I swear, when I score a great deal on a 26" I'll stop buying grills... So often.

Thanks Dave. She cooks great! I got the wheels loosened up...the corrosion on the axle was pretty bad and the swelling on it prevented the wheels from turning. I took off the wheels, sanded down the rust and corrosion on the axle and put it back together. Now both wheels roll just fine. [emoji3]

Welcome from Highland Park, Illinois (north suburb of Chicago)! Your grill restoration turned out great!  You'll find that this group is unbelievably helpful and encouraging.
Wife: Let me guess... you want to grill again

Yes, I’ve already had some wonderful interactions with a couple of members. Very helpful indeed.
