Polishing Compound on Performers’ Powder-Coated Frame?
« on: July 14, 2019, 05:20:54 PM »
I’m cleaning up, replacing parts on the Performer SS I recently got. The powder coated frame pieces, while not rusty or scraped, are kind of dull and oxidized. I started to get out the Meguires Cleaner Wax, but being the lazy guy I am, I thought using a mild polishing compound would cut the oxidation quicker.

Can you do that on powder coat without damaging it? Or, any other products to shine it up that won’t destroy the powder coating?

I'd use the cleaner wax, it's got fine abrasives for cleaning and wax to seal the job. Never use a polish you aren't going to seal with a wax.

I tried a bit of the polishing compound on the underside of a cross member, where it won’t be seen if I failed miserably.

It worked fine, saving me some rubbing with the less abrasive Cleaner Wax. I always wax anything I own after using any kind of abrasive. Thank you!
