I got something pretty special in the mail today. A brand spanking new 2019 Gibson Les Paul Standard 50's Gold Top. Wow! This thing is sweet.

Nice! I have a 2006 Gibson Les Paul Standard in AA flame maple top over mahogany with a transparent  black finish. I'll try to post a picture later.

Played drums for years. Found a nice '73 Guild D25 at a local Goodwill, so am going to give it a go. I had an even older Silvertone when I was 10 or so - over 50 years ago! Wish I had kept that one.

I want to get an acoustic bass to play around and learn on. I love music but never have learned to play anything

Congrats Marty. Those old Guilds are awesome! I have a 90's DV-52 (from the Westerly plant) that sounds better than many Martins/Gibson's I've ever picked up.

Thanks! They are the stock Burstbuckers.

Your strats in copper are 🤤 custom shop pro? what wood is the neck/headstock made of for the one on the right?

They're John Page era (1997) CS CopperCaster 58 strats (consecutive serial numbers 19 and 20 of 30).

The one on the right is totally stock (neck is Birdseye maple with a very comfortable shape). As for the one on the left, the original owner sold me the whole guitar except the neck...so I put MIM Robert Cray neck on it. I've been on the lookout for a MIM 50's neck for a while.

Fat 50's pickups and ash bodies...they ring out bright and loud. The one on the right needs a refret.
