Vintage BBQ Sign with a Weber Twist
« on: January 24, 2019, 04:11:41 AM »
Picked up this awesome 1950’s BBQ Sign. In the 1950’s George Stephen displayed the same model sign at many of his DEMO cooks. In the last pic, you will see the sign displayed (bottom right) during a DEMO.

Very cool find. Great job even recognizing it from the vintage photo!

Wow!!!  That’s an awesome find.  Will that be being placed at the entrance to your Weber wing?

Obviously looking for a Glen Blue (who isn’t?😂).

Looking for anything Happy Cooker, including any re-branded as Montgomery Ward.  I’ve amassed a nice collection, but I’m missing a few still.  Let me know if you can help a fella out🤞

That is cool.
I went to grade school & high school with a girl whose father worked in sales/marketing for Weber & seemed to do very well (or maybe he inherited?).

In any event, I keep an eye out for estate sales at her parent's house (just in case).

There is also another house that I try driving by most weekends during garage sale season.  The old Polish guy who lives there had a garage sale before and I noticed a vintage Weber cover that looked pristine with something underneath it.  I gently asked if he had any bbbq grills for sale, as the grill was sitting a distance from what he was selling.  He said no.

I should have just offered to buy him a new cover with a couple bucks thrown in to boot because "my wife likes flowers so much" or found a way to get him to at least let me take a peek at what was underneath.  The cover was so pristine, he must store the grill in the garage & only wheeled it into the yard to get it away from the stuff he was selling.

What a cool piece of memorabilia.  Having it documented in a vintage Weber Demo photo makes it even more special.  I've seen that photo many times before but never picked up on the work table.  I was always fixated on the Custom.

Different angle of the same Demo with the sign and table:

Wow!  Of all your beautiful amazing etc collection, this might be one of my favorites because of the complete obscurity of it and the fact that it was a barely noticed item not even completely in the photograph.  You noticed it, found one, and brought it from the side of the stage into the spotlight!
