Grandpa Bob’s soups (1 new) 1-16-19
« on: January 05, 2019, 01:29:46 PM »
So A while back November 01 2017 I posted I had at that time 450+ Recipes scanned form my Grandpas hand written cookbook binders.  I’m up to 1800+ at this point with no near future. It’s cold in Chicago in January most of the time; although not today 51 degrees as of now. I am offering up Grandpa Bobs Soup Recipes. I’m sure some may be from cookbooks, but all written in his hand. Please just post if you would like me to upload any of the recipes. I can also send a pdf file to you if that works better for you.

A little about him he was about 3 when his mom and dad where killed in a horse and buggy accident. He was adopted by his grandparents and when he was old enough he ran away and joined a place that did fireworks displays. Him and a bunch of young guys would do the fireworks, one day his friend fell asleep with a lit cigarette while sitting on fireworks and they went off. Luckily grandpa was not with him as the kid died.

After that grandpa joined the Army WWII when asked if he could cook he said yes even though he didn't know anything about cooking. Grandpa was a good bullshitter.

When he got out of the military he was a very good cook and move to Illinois where he got a job working on the line for a steakhouse downtown Chicago. After a while he became a cook and an excellent one at that. There was no money in being a cook at that time so he left but never once did he stop cooking throughout his years he wrote many cookbooks for his own personal use.

Below is a list of some of the soups from some of the binders. Also one recipe I’m posting is a very easy and good one not much to it, the other not so much…

@AnyThingGrilled I was looking  through passed old Post and you are correct grandpa Bob is the one that was in the military. Some of the  recipes I have are very old and we still use them. You need to adjust for the kettle, but they will turn out.

Thanks for sharing Grandpa Bob's recipes.  I would be interested in the Victory Garden Tomato Soup and the Curry Tomato Soup recipes.  New uses for my heirloom tomatoes.
